The company E.A. Mattes has been around for more than 150 years. They are well known for their high quality lambskin products. They are not only active in equestrian sports but also an important producer in the car and aircraft industry, producing for well-known names such as Bentley, Boeing and Mercedes Benz.
The company was founded in 1867 in Tuttlingen, Germany. The business started with sheep and goat furs and skins for the production of leather clothing. In the mid-20th century they added the production of paint rollers and also seat covers for the aircraft and car industry . They started concentrating on the equestrian sport in the mid-80s and have since produced an extensive range of products with great passion and innovation, from saddle pads to seatsavers, saddle pads and girths.
All sheepskins are chosen with care and must meet the highest quality controls. Only hides from Australia are used and only the best 3% of all hides are suitable for Mattes' requirements.
The Mattes collection is available in many colors. That is why they have an online configurator with which we can put everything together according to your wishes. You choose the color of wool, fabric and cords yourself and immediately see the end result. This allows you to combine endlessly in the choice of saddle pads, fly hats, leg protection, blankets and girths to match everything.
Saddlepads
The Mattes saddle pads are available for all disciplines and in different models and are "SPINEFREE", that means that there is no pressure on the withers. In addition, the pads and covers are also equipped with the "SADDLE-FIX" system for optimal attachment to the saddle. The "CORRECTION" system can be applied to all models as desired. This system provides 2 pockets on both sides of each pad, with 3 inserts per bag included. This allows the pad to be filled completely as desired to improve the position of the saddle. This is often applied when a saddle is used on several horses, you can then use its own pad for each horse. Or when a horse varies in muscling or will change due to growth.
Girths
The girths are also available for all disciplines. The sheepskin lining reduces pressure and keeps the saddle in the right position because it will slide less and is very soft for the sensitive horse skin. These girths are unique due to various properties such as the narrow design at the elbows with SOFT-EDGE and the filling with POLY-FLEX, which makes them super soft. Choosing the right girth with a good position will certainly contribute to a well-fitting saddle and a happy horse.

To complete your collection you can add the fly hats made of Egyptian cotton and a excellent quality fleece exercise blankets and show blankets in matching color combinations.
