Every now and then it is very useful to refresh the brain with specific training and brainstorm together. That is why we recently traveled to beautiful Switzerland where the headquarters of Amerigo saddles is located.
Left early on Monday morning to arrive around noon at Peter and Lisa Menet's saddlery in Herisau, a small town in eastern Switzerland. After a delicious lunch we did a round in the saddlery, which is actually the test room for the Amerigo saddles. Here all technical details are thought out and tested, after which the production of the Amerigo saddles is carried out at Selleria Equipe in Valdagno, Italy. In the meantime, we have been brainstorming about details in the way the saddles are made and things we encounter during fitting with customers.
Later in the afternoon we were updated in detail about all the different fits and sizes of the saddles and the biomechanics of horses so that good saddle management can be applied. We think it is very important to continue to study and train in this, even if you have had this training before. New questions always come up and that's how you keep developing.
On day 2 we visited a stable to test everything that was discussed on day 1 in practice. The weather was beautiful and it had snowed in the night so that was a nice ride in beautiful surroundings.
We have seen different horses and had an explanation about what to test and measure before a saddle is put on. And all models of saddles have been fitted and tested to show what is and is not correct and how much difference the right fit can make. This morning was again extremely educational.
This time the people of Selleria Equipe from Italy were also there and that was also very pleasant to get to know them and to be able to discuss production technical matters together. After another excellent lunch it was time for us to return to the Netherlands. On the way we were able to visit a customer halfway in Germany, so that was a bonus!
